NUXE committed

  • The responsible management of waste

We are committed to a global approach of recovery and reduction of our waste and we sort the waste in our offices:

- We have set up an organized, sustainable and managed collection of all our waste in our laboratory: they are then sorted and reused according to their nature.

- Sending boxes are reused several times. Batteries, ink cartridges and toners are recycled.

- Office paper is collected every week by a specialized company**, subsidized by the State and Pôle Emploi, and acting for the integration of people in social and professional difficulties.

What is the outcome? In 2009, we were able to recycle 2.7 tons of office paper, i.e. 60 trees saved.

  • Actions with a direct effect on greenhouse gas emissions

Some simple actions with a direct effect on greenhouse gas emissions have already been implemented:
- Therefore, we privileged the Internet for customer mailings (265,000 letters sent in 2006 vs. only 25,000 in 2010), which resulted in the reduction of both paper consumption and postal delivery, indirectly implying a fuel consumption.
- We put an Intranet service at our distributors’ disposal, where they can download documents (point-of-sale advertising, books, marketing, photographic library...). This prevents the sending of many letters across the world.

  • The protection of bees

Bees are essential pollinating insects: when they gather nectar and pollen, they allow the reproduction of 80 % of flowering plants by carrying a pollen grain from the stamen (male organ) to a female organ of the same species.
Unfortunately, for a few years now, they have been weakened because of the unfavorable environment they live in: pesticide treatments, parasites, diseases, pollution... The bee population has been highly decreasing for a few years now, sometimes disappearing completely in various parts of the world.
Bees are thus a key element in the support chain of biodiversity, and their disappearing would have dramatic consequences on nature and mankind.

We chose to collaborate with Un toit pour les abeilles*, through which we sponsor bee hives and take part in the development of new bee colonies.

NUXE’s bee hives are located in the Vosges, at a beekeeper’s very mindful of environmental issues, bees gather nectar and pollen onmountain species such as fir trees, altitude flowers...

* Un toit pour les abeilles is a company that established a commitment program aiming at the protection of bees by associating beekeepers who become partners at their own initiative
