The state in which the body builds muscles is called anabolism while the state in which the body breaks down muscles is called catabolism. Skinny guys should do their best to avoid the catabolic state as much as possible so that they keep their hard earned muscles. I used to be very skinny and i had a hard time building muscle, the reason my progress was slow is that i wasn't aware of one of the most dangerous catabolic factors out there which is stress!!! How can skinny guys avoid catabolism we all know that stress is bad for our health but do you know that its bad for your muscles too? Stress forces the body to release the hormone cortisol which breaks down muscle tissues!!! In the beginning i though that mental stress is the thing that i should avoid but later on i discovered that physical stress too results in releasing cortisol!!! do you know what this means? this means that over training or staying in the gym for prolonged periods of time will erode your muscles especially if you were initially skinny. How to avoid the release of cortisol Skinny people have the body type called ectomorph which is a body type that burns food quickly and hardly accumulates any fat. Because of its nature the ectomorph body type breaks muscles quickly when subjected to stress!! This means that if you are a skinny guy you should avoid stress at any costs in order to grow. you can do this by: * Living a less stressful life style * and avoiding over training (spending more than 1.5 hours in the gym, going more than 3 times a week or training the same muscle more than once a week) |
