Fox 11 Wants to Know: Get Slim Slippers

It's the latest weight loss product to hit the market... and one that sounds way too good to be true. Is it? Fox 11 wants to know...

They're called "Get Slim Slippers"... the manufacturer says they can help you lose weight. They're also supposed to help with various other health problems.

The claims may sound unbelievable, but Rhonda Funes, a reflexologist and spokesperson for the product, says the slippers really work.

"'Get Slim Slippers' are a product that help stimulate the intestinal tract of the body thru acupuncture and reflexology zones and thereby help people to drop weight naturally," she tells Fox 11 News.

She says the slippers, designed by an acupuncturist in China, use magnet therapy, reflexology, and the laws of gravity.

Johnella Ellis says she was skeptical when she first heard about the slippers. After wearing them for three months, though, she says she saw results. She says she was so impressed that now she sells the slippers.

The company admits no scientific study or research has been done to prove the slippers work.

So Fox 11 Wants to Know took them to Dr. Drew Francis, a licensed acupuncturist who specializes in alternative medicine.

"If you're going to be using these slippers and you're going to be eating ridiculous amounts of junk food all the time, [it] doesn't make a difference how much you wear these," he tells Fox 11 News. The Company says that one should not change his eating habits, when wearing the Get Slim Slippers, in order to get the Best results.

But... Dr. Francis says that people with foot problems might get some benefit because the slippers may stimulate the feet.

The company says 'Get Slim Slippers' are big sellers in China and Israel. They add that they should not be worn by pregnant women or those with thyroid problems.
